Our Revitalization Project
A Unique Public and Private Partnership
In 2018, The Wills Park Equestrian Foundation a 501(c)(3) non-profit was formed by a group of passionate individuals to revitalize and save the Wills Park Equestrian Center in Alpharetta, Georgia. In 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding “MOU” between the City of Alpharetta and the Foundation stated the WPEF shall match City funding $1 : $1 for arenas and barn renovations. In November 2021, the citizens of the City of Alpharetta passed a $29M parks bond (79.7% approval vote). Of this bond, $5 million is earmarked for the Wills Park Equestrian Center fulfilling the City’s portion of the MOU. WPEF has raised $1.3 million to date which has funded Phase 1 to completion!
Over the years, the Alpharetta City Council has been instrumental in the development of draft plans for the Equestrian Center. Community input sessions were held and several designs have been considered as Master Plans are compiled. Today the City of Alpharetta is actively working with consulting firm Barge Design Solutions to finalize the formal, fully engineered Master Plan.
Wills Park Equestrian Center Conceptual Overview
Phase 1 - Complete
Arena 3 (150' x 250') reopened in May 2023 following a rebuild including new drainage, leveling, GGT footing, and fencing. Additional critical infrastructure was also completed as part of Phase 1.
Arena 1 (150' x 340') is a new competition arena featuring state of the art drainage, GGT footing, and new fencing which opened in September 2022.
Also completed in Phase 1 is the Amphitheater Seating overlooking Arena 1 offering a more accessible and enjoyable observation area for spectators.

When we finish the renovation, we will be a Class A show facility… that means people from all over the country are coming out for it. That means they're staying in our hotels. That means they’re eating in our restaurants. They’re pumping gas in our gas stations, and they are buying stuff.
